Student Labourers (Temporary Full time spring/summer employment)

SPECIAL EVENTS & PROJECTS ASSISTANTS
Responsibility is to set up local special events, fairs, festivals with recycling services. The job entails contacting local event organizers to ensure that they have included recycling services with their event, delivery of specialized recycling containers to the event, locating of the containers to ensure maximum participation and minimum contamination, and monitoring of the containers to ensure that the services is adequate.
YARD WASTE ASSISTANTS
Student will be working at our Windsor facility primarily selling yard waste compost and managing incoming grass, trees, and brush from the public. Students will be selected from post secondary technical programs where they may have primary experience with farming or construction equipment. They will receive forklift certification and training on skid steers and front end loaders. Their duties will include cash management from the sale of compost, directing of traffic, customer service experience, and experience with complaint resolution. All students will be educated as to the value of the EWSWA composting program and the benefits and proper usage for compost so that they can assist the public.
LANDFILL LABOUR ASSISTANTS
Conduct on and off site litter patrols; maintain public disposal area in a tidy manner; perform maintenance duties including grass cutting & repairs; assist Environmental Technician with monitoring programs; assist landfill staff with surveying; relieve various personnel as required by supervisor; operate leachate land application/recirculation systems; maintain & gather accurate data.
