Recycling Collection Calendars for Essex County (Heading)

Recycling Collection information is now included with other collection information specific to your municipality.

The new calendars are 16 page-full colour calendars that will be delivered to your home by arrangements made by your Municipal Office. The calendars are also available through this website on February 1st, if you prefer to download them to your computer. What and How to Recycle

Place items LOOSE in your blue box. Not in plastic bags, please!

  • Clear glass bottles and jars (remove lids)
  • Coloured glass bottles and jars (remove lids)
  • Aluminum and/or Steel Food & Beverage cans (empty and rinse cans to discourage animal visitors)
  • Empty Plastic bottles and jugs (no caps)
  • Empty tubs and their lids.

RED & BLUE go out as two

Use your Red Box for your PAPER products (see suggestions below) and any excess can go in a separate container such as a small cardboard box (not garbage or plastic bags).

  • Newspapers, Magazines, Fine paper, Junk Mail, Catalogues and Phone Books, Soft & Hard cover books, Envelopes etc.
  • Boxboard such as cereal, kleenex and shoe boxes.
  • Cardboard (small quantities only broken down and placed beside the box, 30"x30" bundled no larger than 8")

Public Drop Off Depot

Open Monday through Saturday for the disposal of household garbage, furniture, appliances etc., as well as recyclables (cardboard, office paper, pop cans). The Depot is open year round, check the Public Drop Off Depot page on this site for further information and hours of operation.

Household Chemical Collection Centre

Paint, car batteries, solvents etc. can be brought to the Chemical Collection Centre (FREE OF CHARGE) when the facility is open. Check the HCW page on this site for location, hours of operation and further information.
