Instead of looking for the number of the plastic in the recycling loop to determine if your plastic container is recyclable, CHECK THE NECK of your plastic containers.
We are now able to take all Plastic JUGS and BOTTLES in your Blue Box, such as dishwasher bottles, shampoo, lotion, detergent, bleach, fabric softener bottles etc. (Check for a narrow neck). We are unable to collect and sort plastic tubs or caps. Please remove caps from your bottles and jugs and discard with your garbage
- Do NOT place plastic TUBS in your recycle box, such as margarine, yogurt & ice-cream containers, plant pots, pails etc. DO NOT put plastic JARS such as peanut butter and mayonnaise containers with your recyclable containers. Instead of looking at the recyling loop and number, check the neck.

Please DO NOT use Plastic Grocery bags in your Recycle Boxes, they are not recyclable in Essex-Windsor.

All Plastics may appear to be the same however, there are many different types of plastics and each has its own physical characteristics and manufacturing requirements. As a result, plastics have to be sorted before recycling in order to ensure a quality, homogeneous product. PET (#1 Plastic) and HDPE (#2 Plastic) bottles and jugs are the most marketable plastics in Essex-Windsor.
