EWSWA Brings Green Bin Program to Local Libraries This Summer

Essex-Windsor residents will be able to learn about the Green Bin Program at their local library this summer, as part of the Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority’s (EWSWA) collaboration with the Essex County Library and the Windsor Public Library.

"Libraries are trusted gathering places in our communities and this partnership is a great way to connect with residents who are already engaged and curious," said Cathy Copot-Nepszy, Manager of Waste Diversion. "We want to make it as easy as possible for people to learn about the Green Bin and let them have a little fun while they're at it."

Libraries will feature tabletop displays, Green Bin Guide FAQ pads, and collectable bookmarks featuring the EWSWA’s six Green Superheroes: Evangeline, Eugene, Colleen, Ameen, Granny Green, and newcomer Bean.

Bookmarks will rotate weekly throughout the summer, giving visitors the opportunity to collect all six.
Amherstburg, Kingsville, and Leamington libraries will also feature a Green Bin as part of their display to promote the launch of the Green Bin Program in these communities later this fall.

The initiative also features The Apple Core, a children's book created by the Compost Council of Canada and adapted to support the EWSWA Green Bin Program, now available at all participating branches.

The initiative will run from July to August, ending just prior to the Labour Day weekend.
