Green Bin Delivery Runs September to October in Amherstburg, Kingsville, and Leamington

Media Release

September 8, 2026

Green Bin Kit delivery to Phase 2 municipalities begins September 14, 2026, starting with single-family homes in Leamington. Delivery will then continue to Kingsville and then Amherstburg, wrapping up by early October and reaching approximately 27,000 homes in total.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as delivery rolls out over the coming weeks,” said Cathy Copot-Nepszy, Manager of Waste Diversion at the EWSWA. “Amherstburg, Kingsville, and Leamington are joining communities that have already kept more than 10,000 tonnes of food waste out of landfill — and we can’t wait to see that number grow with the onboarding of these municipalities this November.”

The Green Bin Kit being delivered contains:

·         120L EWSWA Green Bin (made in Canada);

·         7L Kitchen Catcher with compostable liner (made in Canada);

·         “How-To” Guide;

·         Frank sample compostable bag; and a

·         Glad sample compostable bag and $2 off coupon.

“This kit is designed to get residents off to a good start so that they can put food waste and other organics in their new Green Bin,” said Copot-Nepszy. “We ask residents to get familiar with their kit now, but to hold off on filling it until the last week of October so everything’s ready when weekly collection begins in November.”

Residents who want to know when delivery is scheduled in their municipality can visit www.ewswa.org, or they can simply download the Recycle Coach App to request notifications for the Green Bin Program, including delivery timing and their November collection start date.
