Green Bin Program is at Local Libraries!
For Immediate Release
August 5, 2025
The Essex-Windsor Region (Region) is growing green with Green Bins and now the Essex County Libraries (ECL) and Windsor Public Libraries (WPL) are too! The Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA) is excited to announce its new partnership with both the ECL and WPL that will get more Green Bin information to residents. Through this partnership libraries will rotate the five Green Superheroes weekly so that residents can connect with a new collectable Green Superhero bookmark. This campaign will continue during the summer.
The partnership will also celebrate a new addition to the library, a new local book, The Apple Core. The Apple Core was created by the Compost Council of Canada and customized to support the EWSWA Green Bin Program. It’s a fun way to remind residents that they have the power and the choice to put their food waste in the right place- the Green Bin! If they use their powers properly, they will help create fertilizer that farmers will use for next year’s crops and renewable energies by simply using their Green Bin for food waste this fall! By making this great choice they too can become a Green Superhero, and become part of the Green Team with Eugene, Evangeline, Ameen, Granny Green, and Colleen!
Come out and visit a local public library this summer to see what is new and Grow Green with the Green Bin by collecting all 5 Green Superhero bookmarks.
