Recycling Container Take-Back Program at EWSWA Depots - Ends on April 15th!
A reminder that the Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA) is offering a "Recycling Container Take Back Program" at its Depots until April 15th, 2026. Residents may drop-off unwanted or incompatible blue/red boxes and recycling carts for free so that they can be properly recycled and not landfilled.
Recycle boxes/carts must be empty (free of materials) to drop off at these three EWSWA Depots:
- Public Drop Off (Windsor): 3560 North Service Rd. East (on the corner of E.C. Row and Central)
- Transfer Station #2 (Kingsville): 2021 Albuna Townline
- Regional Recycling Depot (Essex): 7700 County Rd. 18
EWSWA Green Tips: If you are going to drop-off your old recycle carts/boxes, check your house for other items that you can recycle for free at the Depot: old electronics, hazardous & special waste (e.g. lithium batteries, old paint), yard waste, etc. Residents can recycle many products for free at the Depot and do a little ‘early’ spring cleaning! Check out some other ideas for repurposing old recycling boxes and carts.
Background: Circular Materials introduced a new residential recycling program on January 1, 2026, and will only accept recyclables in the cart provided by Circular Materials. Therefore, many residents have old recycle boxes or recycle carts that are no longer needed or are incompatible with the new residential recycling program.
