  • Store your Green Bin in a safe place. Collection doesn’t begin until November.

  • Do not use for any other collection programs (garbage, yard waste, etc.)

The Green Bin is the property of the EWSWA and is to be used only for the Green Bin program. If you move, the Green Bin must remain at that address.

At delivery, the Green Bin will be scanned and linked to a corresponding address so that it can be recorded in the EWSWA database. This information is essential to the new Green Bin Repair & Request Program (available now) that will track issues related to Green Bin repairs, warranty, requests, etc. This new program is important as it will support both residents and automated collection during this program.

1. Check your municipal calendar

2. Download the Recycle Coach app and request Green Bin Program notifications.

For Kitchen Set-Up

  • Take some time to set-up your Kitchen Catcher and Green Bin in your home. Every home is different, so your set-up will be individual to you, your family, and your lifestyle.
  • Your set-up should reflect how you food prep, cook and eat meals in your home.
  • Your Kitchen Catcher should be located in a convenient place for food waste collection.
  • If you decide to use compostable bags to line your Kitchen Catcher, make sure you purchase them from a reputable brand and do not overbuy/stockpile. They are designed to decompose.
  • Look for the BPI/BNQ certification logos on compostable bags to ensure they are compostable.
  • Store compostable bags in a cool dry place.
