Drop Off Depots

ALL EWSWA SITES: Effective immediately, the EWSWA is offering a ‘grace period’ for residents using double-axle trailers to drop off yard waste branches from the recent storm, so that they will NOT be charged a fee during this time

The grace period will run until the end of the day on Saturday, August 1, 2026, or until otherwise instructed. Branch and tree trunk size restrictions still apply. Commercial customers will continue to be charged during this period.

For your convenience, the EWSWA offers three Depots to its residents in the Essex-Windsor Region:

  1. Public Drop Off Depot (Windsor)
  2. Transfer Station #2 (Kingsville)
  3. Regional Recycling Depot (Essex)

Each Depot has policies that visitors must follow when using these sites and services. Please ensure that you are familiar with these policies (double-axle trailers, businesses, children, pets, tarping loads, etc.) prior to your visit.

EWSWA Depots were created to give residents a reliable place to drop off many different types of materials that are either recycled or disposed of responsibly. Some examples of materials that are recycled are: white goods(appliances), bicycles (through WE ReCYCLE), old EWSWA merchandise, electronics, hazardous waste, blue/red box materials, metals, tires, yard waste, etc. Disposal services are available for items like garbage that you are unable to set out for your residential curbside collection. Finally, there are restricted items that the EWSWA does not accept at its sites.

There is a cost to drop off some materials, while other materials are FREE, especially items that can be diverted at the landfill and are minimal cost for Authority programs. Check out the Depot Fee Schedule for more information. Note that businesses who use EWSWA Depots will be assessed a fee.

Another service that is offered at many EWSWA Depots is the ability to purchase EWSWA’s Garden Gold Compost that is available through most of the year!

The Regional Recycling Depot is not included in the information below as it only accepts materials for recycling from residents - free of charge. However, there are fees for some materials that are dropped off at Regional Recycling Depot.
