County / Non-Eligible Sources (NES) Recycling Program
Recycling Collection Services for Businesses and Not-For Profits in Essex County
Attention: This program is only for businesses and not-for-profits located in the County of Essex (Amerstburg, Essex, Kingsville, Lakeshore, LaSalle, Leamington, and Tecumseh) who have registered with the EWSWA.
In order to address a legislative gap in service as a result of O.Reg. 391/21, starting January 5, 2026, the EWSWA has updated this program to support NES located in the County of Essex only, as the City of Windsor has selected to administer a program for NESs in the City. This updated program was communicated to NES located in the County via email as this is the form of communication for this program. The email provided detailed information for your business/not-for-profit such as your:
- New Recycling Collection Day for 2026
- New 2026 Recycling Collection Calendar
- Week 1: NES Calendar 2026 Week 1
- Week 2: NES Calendar 2026 Week 2
- 2026 County NES Recycling Guide: NES Recycling Guide 2026
If you have registered in this program, be sure to check your email daily, as this is the only way that program changes (e.g., collection delays, schedule changes) will be communicated. If you have registered for this program, but don't know which week or day you were assigned for recycling collection, please email us (see below).
If you have any questions on this program please email ask@ewswa.org
A reminder that if you are business or non-for-profit located in the City of Windsor, please call 311 for support.
Registering for NES Recycling Collection Services
If you are a County business or not-for-profit organization and you are not receiving recycling collection services, you can apply to register below.
The EWSWA will review your registration and, if program criteria are met, your business/not-for-profit will be placed on a bi-weekly recycling collection route and provided with a collection calendar via email.
Note: The Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA) reviews all applications for the County NES Recycling Program to determine service eligibility.
While EWSWA supports increased recycling across the County of Essex, application approval is based on many factors such as: operational feasibility, program capacity, program costs, and sustainability.
